Home safety upgrades for staying in the home you love
Most falls happen at home, in bathrooms, on stairs, and at entry steps. Practical changes like grab bars, ramps, and sturdy railings make the house safer and easier to live in, without making it feel like a hospital.

Free home safety walkthrough
We walk through the house with you, or with your parents, and point out the trip hazards, slippery spots, and hard-to-reach places. You get a written list of recommended changes with prices, ranked by what matters most. No obligation.
- Entrances, steps, and thresholds
- Bathrooms and showers
- Stairs and hallways
- Kitchen and closet reach
- Lighting inside and out
Entrances and ramps
- Wood wheelchair ramps with handrails
- Threshold ramps for doorways and sliders
- Handrails on porch and entry steps
- Wider, level landings at the door
- Lever-style door handles and keyless entry
A ramp is built to a gentle slope with rails on both sides and a level landing at the door. Ramps often need a permit, and we handle that.
Ramps are quoted per project after measuring. Threshold ramps and handrails often cost less than people expect.
Bathroom safety
- Grab bars anchored into framing
- Shower seats and fold-down benches
- Handheld shower heads
- Comfort-height toilets
- Non-slip treatment for tubs and floors
- Toilet safety rails
Grab bars are only as strong as what holds them. We anchor into studs or use rated blocking, never drywall anchors alone.
Grab bars from $75 each. Most bathroom safety packages are done in one visit.
Walk-in tubs and showers
- Tub-to-shower conversions
- Low-threshold and curbless showers
- Walk-in tub installation
- Built-in shower benches
- Slip-resistant shower floors
- Grab bars and handheld showers built in
Stepping over a tub wall is one of the riskiest moves in the house. Replacing the tub with a low-threshold shower, or a walk-in tub with a door, removes that step. We handle the whole project, from demolition to the finished bathroom.
Quoted per project after the safety walkthrough. Most conversions take about a week.
Stairs and getting around
- Handrails on both sides of stairways
- Loose and broken railings repaired
- Non-slip stair treads
- Trip hazards and raised thresholds removed
- Doorways widened with offset hinges
A second stair rail and secure footing on every step are some of the most effective fall-prevention changes there are.
Lighting and everyday reach
- Brighter light fixtures
- Motion-sensor lights for halls and entries
- Large rocker light switches
- Lowered closet rods and pull-down shelves
- Pull-out shelves in kitchen cabinets
- Smoke and CO detectors replaced
Good light and things within easy reach prevent the stretch, the step stool, and the late-night trip down a dark hall.
